Charlie Hides spills on RuPaul’s Drag Race scene with Lady Gaga they axed from the show
Why did we never get to see this?!
Charlie Hides is spilling on a never-before-seen moment she shared with Lady Gaga on RuPaul’s Drag Race. She shared a really sweet photo of them sharing a hug and smiling, revealing that they both filmed episode one of the show nine years ago.
She spoke about how the singer stayed under a mask for ten minutes, but soon let it slip when she asked what the queens were all talking about before she entered the workroom. Charlie revealed, “I looked directly at her and said, ‘We were talking about boyfriends.'”
They shared how they asked Lady Gaga, “‘Do you have one, and is his name Taylor Kinney?’ (They were dating at the time) She locked eyes with me and as she slowly raised her mask, she said, ‘I KNEW it would be you who clocked me!’ Then we hugged.”
Charlie reveals that episode one was the “longest day of filming but highly memorable”. People are now claiming they wish the show had shown all of her interactions with Lady Gaga, especially as she’s shared so many memories they shared together.
The queen wrote, “Over the years I’ve made SO many Lady Gaga parody videos and jokes about about Gaga, when I actually met her in person I had to apologise to her… She told me, ‘You don’t have to apologise, they’re funny, you’re hysterical.'”
She immediately thought that the masked Lady Gaga was an impersonator, and noticed her tattoos. “When she started talking, that’s Gaga’s voice, I knew it was Gaga. We all started to talk and ask her questions, and I started eyeballing her,” Charlie recalled.
Charlie was convinced that, having said so many nasty things about the singer in her YouTube videos, she was definitely going home first if Gaga is here as a guest judge. “I did it, soldiered through, she wasn’t too critical,” Charlie added.
When there were no cameras, Charlie revealed that Lady Gaga showed the queens a notebook and passed on her years of experience, giving each of them feedback. The queen continued: “She turned to me and she said, ‘I love you,’ and I was taken aback.”
Charlie said: “She was letting me know that it was okay, and she didn’t think I believed her, that’s why she repeated it. After she said it again so sincerely, I believed it. She told me, ‘You’re going to have to practise ripping things off,’ in her feedback.”
