Sam Thompson heartbreakingly forced to tell Jamie Lee Curtis he and Zara split live on air
She'd asked them if they'd finally 'tied the knot'
Despite Zara having fully moved on with Louis Tomlinson and Sam seeing people here and there, I’m still in a slight state of denial that they’re no longer together.
And it seems I’m not the only one, as Jamie Lee Curtis hadn’t even realised that the pair were no longer together, with Sam having to break the news to her live on air.
Jamie Lee Curtis previously chatted with Sam whilst he and Zara were still together, and appeared again on the Hits Breakfast Show to promote the new Freaky Friday film.
Sam explained that Jamie had been his first ever guest on his show, and his nerves had meant that he’d accidentally lied to her about his drinking habits.
He admitted to her: “Last time we met, I may have lied to you, it was my first day and I said about pre-drinks and you went ‘I’m sober.'”
Sam confessed that he panicked and didn’t want to upset his first ever guest, so his pretended that he also didn’t drink.
Jamie laughed about the update, saying: “You lied to me” before Sam added, “I fully lied to your face.”
He recalled that Jamie had asked Sam what had made him give up alcohol, which resulted in him making up a story involving his then girlfriend Zara.
He explained: “I said, ‘My girlfriend doesn’t drink and I’m trying to just be more like her and not drink’ and you were like ‘That is the nicest thing anyone’s ever said’ you were like ‘get her a ring!'”
Jamie responded: “I did, I said, ‘Put a ring on it’… and?’ to which Sam had to break the news he and Zara split, saying: “Oh no, we broke up!” I’m not crying, you are.
‘Because you were drunk!’ the Hollywood actress quipped as the studio collapsed into giggles.
Sam and Zara announced the news of their split in December of this year, with a source telling the Daily Mail that they’d had a “difficult year.”
The source claimed: “Sam and Zara have ended their relationship. It’s been an incredibly difficult decision for them to part ways, they still care and have a lot of love for each other.
“But after a tough year of working hard at their romance, they have split and will be focusing on their individual careers going forward into 2025.
“There has been no scandal or fallout between them, it’s just the result of a difficult year, where they both had to spend a lot of time focused on their own projects.”
