Mother and daughter duo grossly admit they share baths together and sleep in the same bed
They revealed they have to do absolutely everything together
Whilst I’ll admit I sometimes share, or probably in her words steal, some items of clothing with my beloved mother, that’s about as far as our sharing goes.
However, that’s very much not the case for the mother and daughter duo from the TLC series, Smothered, which started in 2019 and is still going strong.
The series centres around 58 year old Catherine Galasso-Vigorito and her 25 year old daughter, Gabriella. And as you might have guessed from the headline, these two take the concept of a close family relationship to an entirely new level.
The pair are as close as can be, sharing outfits together, plastic surgeons, bath water and even the same bed. I think intense is the word we’re looking for here.
However their “inseparable” connection has meant their individual relationship with their other family members have been massively affected, with Gabriella’s siblings thinking the whole thing is really weird. And I would too honestly.
Gabriella explained: “My siblings don’t like it and they won’t join in at all – we call them the ‘simple sisters.’ My mom and I like to stand out, but [my sisters] don’t like pageantry and instead, try to blend in with everyone else.”
Wow. Sounds like they she gets along great with her sisters then and there’s no weird relationship dynamic there then…
But Gabriella and Catherine’s unconventional mother and daughter relationship has also affected her relationship with potential boyfriends, with many of them being “intimated” by the pair.
She explained: “My mom is very protective over me, so it’s caused some problems [in relationships] because she wants me to always be hanging out with her – no one else. My mom only wants me to love her.”
She continued: “When I have boyfriends, mom says we are in the ‘love triangle’, so the relationship is with me, my mom and my man.” This is such a big yikes.
She carried on: “It’s very unconventional, but this is how it is with us. Boys have no idea what they are in for … Luckily, my ex-boyfriend was very accepting of our similarities and close relationship.”
She recalled a mortifying moment with an ex boyfriend, saying: “Once, he popped over to see me and had to do a double take when mom walked in wearing the exact same outfit as me, which was really funny.”
