It’s clear to see that Shamea Morton is the stand-out star of RHOA these days. Season 16 came along this March and brings with it some newbies as well as some OG stars of the show. Shamea has been mingling with the likes of Kenya Moore, Cynthia Bailey, and Porsha Williams for years. But, it was actually an iconic former cast member who got her on the show.
Shamea is a RHOA favourite thanks to Kandi

After appearing on the show as a ‘friend of’ for years, Shamea now proudly holds a peach – and everyone’s here for it.
While lots of people might have thought Shamea’s casting was thanks to her being besties with Porsha, it actually turns out Kandi Burruss played a big part in her getting on the show.
Speaking to ET, Kandi said Shamea is “her girl,” and confirmed she’s the reason Shamea got her peach.
Kandi admitted she can “take credit” for Shamea’s casting, and added: “One of the people that make the decisions…” thanked her for getting Shamea “because she’s great for the show.”
Friendships have changed
Kandi also admitted how she would’ve liked to have Shamea on the show when she was still a cast member.
She added that for “years” she’s been suggesting her pal get a peach because she “has it all.”
While Kandi and Shamea appear to have a friendship stronger than ever these days, apparently, the dynamic between longtime besties Shamea and Porsha has changed.
Shamea told ET:
“…This is new territory for both of us, so it’s just trying to find our way. But, if it’s a strong and solid friendship we can come out of it, that’s what happens sometimes.”
She adds how she’s not sure where it went wrong, but adds: “I love Porsha I want nothing but the best for her.”
