Exclusive: Lauren and her ex were in contact during Love Is Blind but it’s not what you think
It got totally 'blown out of proportion'
Lauren and her ex, Dan, were still texting while she filmed Love Is Blind, a source has claimed. However, it’s not what you think, because it’s been cleared up they were only ever strictly casual, and that Lauren was messaging the former fling to tell him that word had got back to Dave, thanks to their mutual friend.
Lauren was ‘texting her ex’ during Love Is Blind
Lauren was messaging her ex (who she was never in an official relationship with) on the way to Love Is Blind. She allegedly messaged Dan on February 4, 2024, to say she’s “on the bus going to the pods” and felt “a little bit nervous,” but it was “good vibes with the other girls there.” So, basically, he was fully aware of the entire experiment.
The source exclusively told Reality Shrine how she told her ex they’ll “chat soon” and would film for two weeks, to which Dan joked that he “hopes the bus breaks down.” A couple of weeks later, on February 24, Dave had arrived back from a ski trip when he received a message from Lauren, who reportedly said it had been “an insane 24 hours.”
They said, “Lauren arrived from their engagement-moon with the other cast and production to move into Dan’s apartment building at the exact same time. At the point they moved into his apartment, Dave and Lauren were engaged.” She allegedly text the ex to say, “I can text you but we’re still filming over the next two days, so we can arrange to speak. To say it’s been a lot is an understatement.”
As per the source, her ex told Lauren, “I want to be extra clear. I agree our relationship was pretty casual and that’s how I’d generally describe it. We were never in a full-on relationship and never talked about you not going on the show.” They had agreed to keep things casual between them because they met after she was first chosen for the series.
She was only ever ‘casual’ with the former fling
A source close to Dan has claimed that things remained “casual” between Lauren and her ex. Although Dan feels “weaponised” by Dave’s comments regarding him, he believes he’s an “okay guy who he doesn’t know well, but now the whole world hates him.” However, the source said Dan “has regrets” not having asked Lauren to not go on the show but felt it “wasn’t his place” at the time.
They added how Dan and Lauren “kind of thought it wouldn’t happen” but did end up meeting in the lift at the apartments to “rehash” their relationship. The source said how Dan had “developed feelings for Lauren” before she was officially selected to be on the show, and was “hoping for more once the show disappeared” even though they treated the whole thing as a “joke”.
Lauren’s ex ran into Dave in the apartment
Dave and Dan are believed to have bumped into each other getting coffee in the Love Is Blind apartments they stayed in, on that first morning they moved in. He allegedly told him, “Dave, this is crazy, let’s talk about this outside.” They never got that opportunity, but basically have a “really good mutual friend” who Dan asked to tell Dave they could talk if he ever wanted to.
The source claims Dan, who Lauren had apparently asked to speak to Dave, was prepared to “give Dave whatever answers he needs” but equally “isn’t there to save their relationship.” Lauren’s ex had to move out of his apartment because of how stressful the whole ordeal became, because “living with an ex is very uncomfortable.”
Producers also asked Lauren’s ex to appear on Love Is Blind for the first two weeks, but he didn’t want to. “They asked him to be on camera, I don’t know what their angle was but I think it was to create some off-screen narrative of the truth and have a set-up run-in between the two of them. Obviously, he never agreed to it,” the source said.
