Sara is convinced Ben was lying about his religion on Love Is Blind because of baffling reason
She was expecting more from Ben
Sara and Ben’s wedding looms on Love Is Blind, but in the meantime, she’s come out to say she doesn’t feel he was honest about religion in the pods. She felt that having a conversation about their faith was important to her, but wants a partner who is equally as curious as she feels when it comes to religion – and it didn’t seem that way to Sara.
Sara and Ben connected over religion on Love Is Blind
Sara and Ben connected in the Love Is Blind pods when she asked him about religion. She opened up about not being super religious due to the church’s controversial opinions regarding the LGBTQ+ community. Ben said that his faith was important to him and he regularly goes to church, Sara said she was more spiritual than identifying with a particular religion.
Ben grew up in a “very strong Christian” household, which encouraged Sara to ask him more about his religion. He then told her: “There’s a lot of things that I believe about the Bible, and I believe about the Christian faith, but it’s all hard to obviously know for certain. I believe that there’s the one true God that loves us, and that’s pretty much it.”
“I was raised Catholic,” Sara replied. “I do think there is a higher power. But the main thing for me that’s really tough about religion is my sister, Lisa.” She explained her sister is gay, telling Ben, “There’s so much hypocrisy, and I’m not saying all the time, because there is good. But for me, I find it really difficult to go to a church, and like, practice, when it’s like, love thy neighbor, but then it’s like, LGBT is going to go to hell.”
She felt Ben wasn’t completely honest with her
Since filming wrapped, Sara has revealed she doesn’t think Ben was completely honest with her about his religion. She has now told US Weekly how she struggled with feeling like she was “expecting too much” or being too “harsh” with Ben as she asked him questions about his values and religion, especially as they attended a service together.
“At the time, I thought he was being truthful saying, ‘It’s OK. I don’t want you to feel obligated,’ I know it’s important to him,” she said. “It’s very interesting watching the episodes back because I realize how important religion really is for him in the last couple episodes, and I never heard that from him. You’d think someone religious or with that [level of] spirituality would want their partner to have the same level.”
