Indiyah Polack, 25, and Dami Hope, 28, weren’t crowned the winners of Love Island season 8 but they’ve likely made a killing from the show from all the brand deals they’ve landed. This year, the duo collaborates with gymwear giant Gym Shark but faces backlash from critics on the new collection.
Prior to finding Love Island fame, Indiyah was already modeling. But now she and her partner, Dami, are associated with multiple brands including PrettyLittleThing, and Boots. The couple shares how they’re releasing a line of clothing with Gym Shark this summer, right in time for carnival season.
Indiyah and Dami land major collab
August 20 sees Gym Shark sharing tweets via X (Twitter) promoting their collaboration with the Love Island runners-up.
Indiyah also shares the snaps and captions her post: “Designed an exclusive tee with reference to both our Jamaican and Nigerian heritage which means a lot to the both of us! And with carnival fast approaching we thought why not get you guys carnival ready! The beauty when two cultures unite Shop our styled collection now.”
At the time of writing, anyone looking to get their hands on Dami and Indiyah’s drop has to download the Gymshark app to shop them 48 hours early.
Couple gets savage backlash
Lots of fans are taking to the comments to call Dami and Indiyah’s Gym Shark collaboration “fire.”
More commend the couple for “getting the bag” and others say they’re “proud” of them for combining their heritages with the clothing brand.
However, there are many savage critics taking to social media to slate the t-shirts.
One person writes: “This is lazy and & a bit ugly but get the coin.”
Another comments: “Like you two but this sh** is trash.”
Some people are in disbelief that Dami and Indiyah are getting any negativity for their clothing brand deal.
One tweets: “I just know Indiyah and Dami’s management team are thinking this morning “BACKLASH AGAIN????!! AGAIN?????!!!!!””
More agree the backlash is uncalled for, commenting: “They could release a plain white tee and people would find something to say about it.”
