Wendy Osefo’s mother, Iyom Susan Okuzu, was backed by The Real Housewives of Potomac fans. It came after Ashley Darby, who is also from Nigeria, accused her RHOP co-star Wendy of being from the ‘cursed’ Osu tribe. However, fans don’t like that Ashley brought up Wendy’s mom.
Ashley Darby has been blamed for causing a rift between The Real Housewives of Potomac‘s Wendy Osefo and newbie Nneka Ihim over a “false” attack on her family. “I may have implied that to Wendy, that Nneka was, like, sort of implying that Wendy was Osu,” Ashley said to Karen Huger, who admits she has no idea what ‘Osu’ means. Ashley tells her she learned about the word from their Nigerian friends.

Wendy from Potomac’s mother, Iyom Susan Okuzu, is a medical professional, socialite and mom to three children. Her daughter Wendy previously replied to rumors she was from a ‘cursed’ Nigerian tribe in 2020.
The rumors stated her mother is from Anambra State, not Imo State, where ‘Osu’ people live, and that her father lacks the ancestry. Furthermore, Wendy’s sister allegedly conducted a background search.
This was done to rule out any mental illness or ‘Osu’ lineage in either party. The search yielded no “negative findings”. Wendy Osefo’s mom was brought up in relation to this again on RHOP.
Ashley Darby says Wendy is ‘Osu’
Ashley claimed Wendy is ‘Osu’, which her Nigerian friends relate to being a social pariah. “What did Nneka say?” Karen responds. “Here’s the thing, Nneka didn’t say anything!” Ashley informs her.
“So, you made this s**t up?” Karen is curious. “Were you being messy?” Then Ashley replied: “No, I misremembered,” saying her recall of the event has changed since it happened.
As evidenced by flashbacks, it was Ashley who suggested to Nneka that Wendy may be Osu, which Wendy is not. Ashley later said she feels really guilty about it and “wants to set that record straight.”
RHOP fans back Iyom Susan Okuzu
When Nneka and Robyn Dixon spoke about Wendy Osefo’s mom, RHOP fans were not having it, and hope that Wendy will pull the cast members up on it at the upcoming reunion.
One fan wrote: “I am so not here for this demonization of Wendy’s mother’s faith. #RHOP.” While a fellow RHOP viewer said: “It was very inappropriate the way Nneka & Robyn spoke on Wendy’s mother.”
Another penned: “I don’t like how they are making fun of Wendy’s mother, in regards to religion, especially from her Nigerian Igbo sister. #RHOP.”
