Steve Stamp joining I’m A Celeb? That’s what we woke up to on Tuesday morning after the I’m A Celeb line up was revealed. The People Just Do Nothing star Steve was playing a huge I’m A Celebrity prank…
Known for appearing on BBC‘s hilarious documentary, People Just Do Nothing, Steve Stamp – who played Steves – pretended to be joining the line-up. When the official I’m A Celebrity 2023 cast was unveiled, Steve didn’t appear in the ITV promo video. So when his friends posted congrats posts, we were baffled.
Steve Stamp’s I’m A Celeb prank
Steve Stamp is not going on I’m A Celebrity. He convinced his friends, including Allan Mustafa, who plays MC Grindah in People Just Do Nothing, to congratulate him on Instagram.
A fake post featured a photo of Steve in a jungle get-up and said: “Put a star in your diary. Comedian and writer Steve Stamp will be joining the I’m A Celeb 2023 lineup. Sunday at 9 pm on ITV #imaceleb.”
He also posted ‘hints’ of the jungle, an edited picture of him with hosts Ant and Dec, and even a fake photo of him on set with the caption, “Thanks for all the messages.”
Steves on People Just Do Nothing
Steves is best known for appearing on the BBC’s People Just Do Nothing. For this prank, he shared a photo of a giant green lizard on his arm with the caption: “WTF!!!” and then: “The lads,” with Ant and Dec.
He then shared a photo of a kangaroo in his Story and wrote: “There is an important lesson here guys. Don’t believe everything you read on Instagram. Question everything.”
The BAFTA award-winning writer and actor is the man who created and wrote People Just Do Nothing, in which he also plays DJ Steves. He also played Lucien in Top Boy from 2011 to 2023.
I’m A Celebrity line up
The I’m A Celebrity line up this year features Marvin Humes, Nigel Farage, Sam Thompson, Josie Gibson, Nick Picard, Nella Rose, Danielle Harold, Fred Siriex, Jamie Lynn Spears, and Grace Dent.
Former boxer Tony Bellew is a latecomer also confirmed for the series. And unfortunately, Steve genuinely is having us on and won’t be arriving in the Australian jungle any time soon.
WATCH I’M A CELEBRITY… GET ME OUT OF HERE! ON ITV FROM SUNDAY NOVEMBER 19 AT 9 PM
