As thirsty Celebrity Traitors edits go viral, take a nosey look at James Acaster’s dating life

Though undoubtedly handsome and boasting this kind of indifferent Labrador energy, I couldn’t have guessed that comedian James Acaster would get the thirst trap edits on this season of The Celebrity Traitors. 

While he was initially thankful to be selected as a Faithful, James Acaster was recruited to the Traitors’ side after Richard E. Grant’s viral “I’m a Traitor” blunder. It was a solid choice, even if Professor Hannah Fry dubbed it the “obvious” choice during the roundtable. 

James has always been relatively beloved in the UK, but over on TikTok, that adoration has turned into outright thirsting. Countless steamy edits are bobbing about on the internet, and there’s even a dedicated TikTok page for edits centred around him.

Beneath one edit, which amassed 195k views, one person wrote: “Yeah he’s fit! Didn’t realise until last night!”

“Don’t make me like blonde men, James Acaster!” another said. 

Then you’ve got the longtime James Acaster thirsters, with one confessing: “I’ve always said this.”

TikTok will be pleased to learn that Celebrity Traitors’ James Acaster appears to be single – emphasis on appears. The comedian leads a pretty private life, so he might have a girlfriend stashed away somewhere and away from the public eye.

From 2011 to 2013, James Acaster dated fellow comedian and actress Louise Ford, who you might recognise from projects like Crashing, The Windsors, and Horrible Histories. They grew apart, apparently, as she worked in the West End play Quartermaine’s Terms with Rowan Atkinson. 

After the split, Louise went on to date and then marry the Mr Bean actor, with James finding out about them moving in together through the papers. Random, I know. They’ve been married since 2014.

I didn’t realise how incestuous the comedy community is, because James Acaster also dated Australian comedian Rose Matafeo from 2014 to 2017. 

We still don’t know why they split, though Rose said during a stand-up show: “Don’t date comedians.”

So yes, TikTok thirsters, James Acaster might actually be single.
