Omg, a secret new Stranger Things episode is coming THIS MONTH after backlash to the ending

Everyone, drop whatever you’re doing. Netflix has announced another Stranger Things episode is coming out this month. All our whining on the internet about the finale actually achieved something!

So, Netflix has revealed the Stranger Things cast did film scenes for an alternate ending. After so many subscribers were outraged with season five (and 402,000 signed a petition), Netflix decided to edit the footage and release it. The bonus episode will come out on 7^th April (as it’s Mike’s birthday, aw) at 8pm EDT. That’s 1am on 8^th April in the UK.

The Netflix announcement says: “Stranger Things holds a special place in our hearts, and we are delighted we can deliver another chapter in this beloved story.”

The Duffer brothers teased the bonus episode on Instagram, with pictures of the script and a video of them editing the footage.

The very first scene shows Eleven running a waffle cart by the river Fossa’s waterfalls in Iceland. Dr Kay and the military finally track her down… and kill her.

Don’t panic though. Instead of dying, Eleven wakes up. It turns out that Vecna did succeed in his evil plan to take over the earth. The Mind Flayer put Eleven and the other main characters in a trance so they couldn’t stop this. That’s why everything seemed to suddenly work out oh-so-conveniently for the characters in Hawkins. This also explains why we didn’t see any demogorgons or demodogs or demobats in season five episode eight – they and Derek’s mind-controlled family were turning the Hawkins Lab into a giant gateway.

Stranger Things: The Final Chapter has a runtime of four hours, making it the longest episode yet. It seems like the first hour and a half will be an extended cut of Holly Wheeler wandering through the woods and listening to Kate Bush music. Will discusses his sexuality with his family, his friends and his sister’s ex-boyfriend’s co-worker’s girlfriend for a further two hours. The final 25 minutes or so will actually focus on the main characters and their conflict with the Mind Flayer.

Details of the plot are under wraps. However, if you pause the Duffer brothers’ video, you can see Nancy, Jonathan and Steve embracing in a three-way kiss – maybe they resolve their relationship drama by just forming a thruple, à la Riverdale? Hopper is defeated in the West End of Hawkins by a fearsome being from another dimension called the Lehlialehn. In another clip, Mike and Will drive off into the sunset in a Surfer Boy Pizza van, then get married in a drive-through wedding chapel in Las Vegas. In a post-credits scene, we discover everything was really a dream about a book that Nancy wrote collating Sadie Sink’s visions of Steve’s songs during a very elaborate DnD campaign in Mike’s head.

The Tab reached out to Millie Bobby Brown (sorry, Millie Bonnie Bongiovi) for a statement, but she didn’t join in with the rest of the cast, as she was busy posting Instagram stories of her 611 new pet goats.
