Lancaster’s Pizza Hut restaurant has closed with immediate effect

The restaurant is one of 79 to shut as a result of the company going into administration

Lancaster’s Pizza Hut restaurant has been closed with immediate effect, following the company entering into administration.

The restaurant, located in the city centre’s Kingsway Retail Park, joins 68 other dine-in Pizza Hut restaurants to be closed nationwide as a result of this week’s announcement.

The Lancaster branch’s shock closure on Monday (20th October), follows Pizza Hut UK’s update that there will be 1,210 jobs lost due to the store shutdowns. However, the company said “approximately 1,277 team member roles will be saved under UK TUPE legislation”.

Beyond Radio reported that the staff working in the Lancaster branch were informed on Monday that the store would be closing that day.

The company offered many discounts for students in its branches, and was a popular restaurant chain in Lancaster. One Lancaster University student told The Lancaster Tab: “I can’t believe Pizza Hut is closing, it’s such a shame. It was one of my favourite restaurants in town.”

The full closing announcement printed on the door of the Lancaster branch says: “We regret to inform you that the DC London Pie Limited (the Company) trading as ‘Pizza Hut’ has entered into administration on 20 October 2025.

“The appointed Administrators are Christopher Bennett, Lindsay Hallam and Matthew Callaghan of FTI Consulting LLP (the Joint Administrators). The affairs, business and property of the Company are being managed by the Joint Administrators. The Joint Administrators act as agents of the Company and without personal liability.”

The notice finishes with a statement that all stores have been closed with immediate effect. From the date, all site operations have stopped, and access is restricted to authorised personnel, with the Joint Administrators having wirtten to “all known employees, suppliers and creditors separately.”

Pizza Hut UK said: “Pizza Hut continues to operate across the UK through a mix of company-owned and franchise restaurants, with 351 delivery Huts trading successfully across the UK, Northern Ireland and Ireland in addition to the 64 acquired dine-in sites as the result of this deal.”
