MAFS UK: Dean Vary addresses backlash to the ‘cringy’ rap and song at his wedding to Sarah

‘That is me, unfortunately’

Praise the lord, MAFS is back. The very first wedding was as chaotic and weird as we all hoped. Dean Vary actually thought it was a good idea to rap to his new bride Sarah during their MAFS UK wedding ceremony… and then to serenade her with another song at the reception?

Honestly, Kieran and the fake teeth have got nothing on this. The internet was a bit thrown by Dean’s performances. X users complained that the songs were “too much” and “horrendous”. Now, Dean has actually addressed the bizarre behaviour at his MAFS UK wedding, plus offered some justifications for why on earth he thought it was a good idea to rap at the altar.

On 21st September, Dean’s friends and family hosted a watch party for his MAFS wedding. Nawww. After the event, he took to Insta and said: “I just wanted to reach and out and say thank you to everyone for all the overwhelming love and support from so many of you.”

“I know that the rap and the singing was a bit cringy, but I’m just a cringy guy, you know? I’m just being myself. That is me, unfortunately.

“But you’ll see throughout the series, loads of things changed. So, do stay tuned.”

I’m so intrigued.

Dean has also explained his thought process behind the singing. He told Lucinda Light on It’s Official: “Obviously, the rap was a massive thing. I was like, ‘This is a make-or-break of, ‘Will she be the type of person that’s up for a laugh?'”

Erm, apparently Dean often raps or sings to women on dates. “I would tell my friend them. She’s like, ‘It’s very intense to say that to someone on a first time of meeting them.” So, I don’t know why, I forgot about that and just went straight in with it.”

He felt the urge to rap to his bride so she would get an authentic preview of what Dean is like in normal life.

“I had to be me, and I would do it,” he added.

Well, at least Sarah knows what she’s in for?
