All the times Maya Jama was NOT neutral hosting Love Island 2025 – and didn’t care

Maya Jama differs from hosts of other TV shows as she gets more and more into her Love Island hosting tenure because she honestly doesn’t have any interest in being particularly neutral. If you behave in a way she doesn’t like, then by god – you’ll know about it. It’s a refreshing change from reality TV hosts whose neutrality often seems like they endorse bad behaviour of cast members. Maya Jama doesn’t care about being neutral, and she’s becoming a better host because of it. In Love Island 2025, she’s been the least neutral she’s ever been and these moments prove it.

Basically every single time Blu and Maya Jama interacted, she did what we were all thinking and basically told him off. Icon. This goes right back to episode one when he was rude to Alima and she called it out, right up until he still kept trying to beef Toni on Aftersun and she basically told him to shush so she could move the chat on. Real.

She called out Harry and Helena, for always laughing

In the dramatic Casa Amor recoupling, Harry shocked everyone – even Helena – by coming back in for her single. When Andrada called out that he didn’t seem to miss Helena when he was in Casa, Helena burst out laughing. Maya Jama didn’t hold back, and said “I don’t know, I probably wouldn’t find it that funny if I was in a couple with someone like that.”

During tense recoupling vibes after Harrison had upset Toni bringing Lauren back, Ben randomly piped up and said what Lauren was able to give Harrison in a few days was better than Toni had in the weeks she’d known him. Maya spoke for everyone when she said it was “unnecessary”. Queen!

She has taken a side in the villa divide

Obviously a huge part of this year’s season of Love Island was the villa divide between Meg, Helena etc and Yasmin, Shakira and Toni – and Maya Jama binned off being neutral when she firmly took her side. People clocked the only Islanders Maya Jama followed after the show were none other than Yasmin, Shakira and Toni.

When this was pointed out in the TikTok comments, Maya replied and said “I followed them yesterday after the show was finished, and last time I checked I had free will to follow whoever I like lol”. REAL.
