Chris Hughes reveals cringe way he declared his love for JoJo Siwa, and there’s a lot to unpack
‘It was the best three days of my life’
JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes’ unexpected love has enthralled us, not like a good TV show or a catchy TikTok tune, but in a cursed way, like the Annabelle doll or a Boston accent.
The unlikely pairing first came together in the most recent series of Celebrity Big Brother, when JoJo Siwa was still dating Kath Ebbs. Though their relationship did start off as platonic, at least they claim as much, things soon turned from friendship to romance.
For former Love Island star Chris Hughes, that moment came when he surprised JoJo on her birthday in Orlando, Florida.
“I was confused about how I felt. Then I wasn’t confused anymore,” he told The Sun in a new interview. “I went to Florida thinking ‘I really like this person’, but I was slightly confused about the feelings. I had already written her birthday card before I flew over. I took all these presents over for her. They were fun and sentimental gifts rather than anything of monetary value.”

Chris clocked his true feelings the night before JoJo’s birthday, and so he set an incredibly cheesy plan in motion.
He explained: “But the night before her birthday, I realised my feelings had changed. I told her: ‘I’ve got to go do something. I’ll be back in half an hour.’ I went to the hotel reception and borrowed a pen, and came back up to the room.
“I took the card and opened it because I had to redo it. I sat in the toilet on my own and I rewrote the card. I knew my feelings had changed, and there was so much more that I needed to say than what I originally put in the birthday card. I wasn’t confused anymore, and I knew what my heart was saying, and I wanted to tell her.”
He described the trip as the “best three days of my life” and has kept up with his handwritten letters, adding: “I like writing her letters. I don’t do it every day. But when we are apart and I miss her, I write to her. I like writing, and I like to see my handwriting. I like sitting there. It gives me something to do. So when I’m at home alone, I’ll get my little pad out.”

So did JoJo Siwa name Chris Hughes’ testicles before or after the handwritten love note?
Everything I’ve learned about JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes has been against my will, and yet, I simply can’t look away. Call me a masochist, but the odd pairing is just what I want from a celebrity couple: Strangeness, chaos, and confirmation that celebs can be just as jarring as the rest of us.
Perhaps the biggest sign of their innate weirdness came when Chris revealed that JoJo dubbed his testicles Jimmy and Timmy. The moment was completely unprovoked, and he volunteered the information with his own free will.
