Well, it’s out: How JoJo Siwa traumatised the world with her viral Bette Davis Eyes cover
Get that girl a lozenge
Imagine the Doctor arrives with a Tardis and plonks you back in December 2024. Granted, first of all you’d probably be a bit fuming that you’ve got all of time and space to venture to and he’s taken you to a rather uneventful month. But once you got over that, you might relish in the delight of watching someone in December 2024 receive the news that JoJo Siwa was about to go on Celebrity Big Brother, meet Chris Hughes, form a tight friendship that then becomes a romantic relationship and then goes viral for covering Bette Davis Eyes – but changing the lyrics to Chris Hughes Eyes. Then after the hype dies down, spends a week threatening to release a cover of the original song whilst styled as a 1950s housewife. It’s all a bit FakeShowbizNews, but that is the world we’re living in. JoJo Siwa has put Bette Davis Eyes on streaming today, and the world will never be the same. Here’s a quick timeline into how she traumatised the world.
All love to JoJo Siwa, mind you. A delightful and fascinating person, who has such an innate skill in rattling up everyone whilst also maintaining every eye on her. Every Bette Davis Eye on her, some might say. Sorry.
Chris Hughes Eyes
JoJo sang “Chris Hughes’ eyes” instead of “Bette Davis’ eyes” again tonight in front of Chris and he was blushing so much. He also blew her a kiss. SO CUTE!! đđđđ #CBBLive #CBBUK pic.twitter.com/98JluXOPoV

In May, JoJo Siwa started making Chris Hughes blush whilst singing a cover of Bette Davis Eyes live because she’d change the lyrics to Chris instead of Bette. I’m not sure if Bette Davis Eyes is about someone with eyes to rival that blue eyed dog in the meme where someone’s begging to put some brown contacts in – but if it is, Chris is a good match.
Obviously, this went crazy viral and there were loads of rumours that JoJo was dropping her version. Maybe even called Chris Hughes Eyes full out. But it never materialised!
‘Is this an anti-smoking campaign?’
@itsjojosiwaAfter performing this song live and then seeing the beautiful response to it, I decided to go record a studio vocalâŚ. Iâm undecided if I should release it on Spotify or notâŚ. Would you want me to?!!!đ¤ if you would, Iâm thinking maybe end of this week?⏠original sound – JoJo Siwa
JoJo threatened us all this week by saying she recorded a studio vocal of the song. She said she was undecided if she was going to release it this week on Spotify – even though we all know full well it was coming whether we liked it or not. The video, where JoJo is inexplicably styled in 1950s aesthetic, has been an instant meme and the vocals got pasted.
And yet, nothing seemed to stop the trajectory. One comment said it’s an anti smoking campaign because JoJo is serving fag ash vocals. Wow.
@itsjojosiwathinking about releasing it this Friday, but still unsure. sharing a lil bit of verse 1 today to see if you think I should or not!:)đ¤âŹ original sound – JoJo Siwa
None of these videos of JoJo Siwa threatening to release Bette Davis Eyes have gone down well, but she simply persists. She’s now clarified that the 50s inspired visuals were inspired by Bette Davis directly.
The tweets reacting have been GOLDEN
Jojo Siwa is Elvis and Marilyn and Deftones and Dennis Rodman and Judy Garland all wrapped into one. she is a manifestation of the suburban sprawl and the coastal excess. she is the freedom and the poison of fame. she is the american dream. she is british.

Like… What more can be said.
Her lozenge longing vocals are for the ages. I need Chris Hughes to cameo in the video more than life itself.
