Once and for all, Shakira and Toni share *exactly* what caused the girls’ divide in the villa
Shakira said it ‘stemmed from day two’
Throughout the whole of Love Island 2025, we’ve been hearing about a divide among the girls in the villa. It’s been pretty clear some of the girls don’t get along, with Shakira and Meg at one point literally saying they “can’t stand” each other… to each other’s faces. Messy.
The divide has always been: Shakira, Toni and Yas, against Meg, Helena and Megan. When Megan was dumped Angel seemed to briefly join with the latter, but she wasn’t really part of it all. When Megan came back into the villa and Harry dumped Helena to couple up with Shakira, the divide was at its peak.
The girls fought, argued and separated off at every opportunity. In games and challenges they’d call each other out, and there were many awkward fire-pit exchanges. Now, speaking in interviews after the show has wrapped up, Shakira and Toni have *finally* shared where it all came from.

When asked what caused the “divide” between the Love Island 2025 girls, Toni said: “I think that my friends and I were the ones to stand up for what’s right and what’s wrong and we owned everything we said when others weren’t doing the same. We didn’t agree with a lot of people’s behaviour and were always vocal about it.”

Shakira added: “What it stems from is on day one or day two I was put in a position where I had to graft and so was deemed as a threat. From then on, I was treated differently. So then I found a friendship with Toni and we sort of flocked together. When you are a threat to someone’s relationship you are not going to be the best of pals.”
Right at the start of the show, Shakira was left single and given a day to graft and get chosen to couple up with by one of the boys, or risk being dumped. Harry did choose her, and Sophie was then dumped. From then, the girls never saw eye to eye again.
