‘Shame on you ITV’: Viewers react after Olivia Attwood revealed as newest This Morning host
‘I think it’s so important when people are put on a pedestal of presenting that the person is humble and kind’
Olivia Attwood has been announced as a new presenter on ITV’s This Morning and whilst a lot of viewers have welcomed a fresh face onto the show, others shared disappointment about the casting.
Starring in the third season of Love Island in 2017, Olivia shot to fame, being considered humorous and painfully relatable – so much so that her reference to “the ick” caught on nationwide.
But despite her major success, a number of ITV viewers have expressed their disappointment in the show for hiring the former Love Island star.
Now married to Bradley Dack, Olivia previously dated Chris Hughes, with the pair placing third together at the end of the show. Since their split in 2018, Olivia has gone on to make a number of TV documentaries with ITV, where she investigated both cosmetic surgery and adult entertainment.
Despite her experience in media and journalism, some viewers were displeased with her presenting role on he show. One user, Alice, wrote on TikTok: “Nothing like coming back on your phone to see that This Morning has made Olivia a presenter. Right, so the woman who belittled Chris Hughes for the last eight + years (and counting) takes swipes all the time and labels women who disagree with her as ‘unattractive females’.. Shame on you ITV and This Morning.”
@alice_wt I can’t believe this genuinely. #whatthehelly
Another person explained they would “definitely stop watching”.
Others discussed whether the new casting decision came as a result of money saving decisions, whilst claiming the show was now “boring”.
“And yet they are saving money. This show has become boring and the whole of daytime needs a revision and a better refresh than the one they are offering atm.”
