RuPaul’s Drag Race finalist Lexi Love says she’s left rehab after entering last week
Lexi had previously told fans she was going to be ‘gone for a while’
RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 queen and popular finalist Lexi Love has shared how she has left her stint in rehab after announcing to fans last week that she would be in the facility for the foreseeable and “gone for a while”. Lexi has been very transparent about her troubles with substance abuse both on the show and off it, and despite the fact she’s exited the rehab facility the Drag Race star has given some insight into why that wasn’t the place for her and how her recovery is going.
Lexi has left rehab due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’
Speaking in a lengthy post, Lexi Love explained why the Drag Race icon had left rehab. Lexi said “Day 19 update: Hurt people, hurt people. And sometimes people are just outright mean! No matter what I try to keep an optimistic mindset but sometimes, divas, I’m just trying to prevent new TRAUMA from sprouting. Unfortunately, my time in rehab was short-lived due to some unforeseen circumstances, overwhelming bias’s and lack of professionalism where I was staying.
“What is important is today is the 19th and we are still 19 days sober from and narcotics and hard liquor and that is more important than anything else! Of course due to these factors, I will have to seek out further progress on my understanding of my personal relationship to addiction. I’m not gonna lie, I feel like I am fully capable of doing this, given some of my newfound self-worth and or clarity.
“Update: I will be spending the next 12 days preparing and continuing to indulge on my own personal path to recovery and get ready to see all of you and your smiling faces next month in June for pride where I will be continuing all of my regular bookings! Please note the attending my shows and continuing to do what you do is going to be perfectly fine with me; JUST REMEMBER IM IN RECOVERY so please don’t offer me anything that isn’t green.”
Lexi had previously planned to be in the facility for a month
Lexi wrote on her page “For all you curious cats, I was brave enough too take my mental, physical and emotional health serious for the first time ever. I am in rehab and will be gone for a while. Y’all better get ready for what’s coming.”
Speaking further to Entertainment Weekly, Lexi’s manager and long time friend TJ Liedel explained how a combination of past trauma and current substance abuse issues led her to going to the facility in Texas, where she was planned to be for a month.
“Her family, friends, and fans all know the love and light that Lexi has. We know how difficult it is to face these things head on. We’re extremely proud of the courage she has to face publicly, and to be a representative for so many in the community,” Liedel tells EW. “Unfortunately, people demonize these things, but the only way we can get better about it is to be public, share stories, and actively work toward healthier, happier times. We appreciate the support of everyone. Know that Lexi appreciates everyone in their support, and she will be back soon. We Lexi Love you.”
