Chris Brown has been arrested over a violent 2023 incident in a London nightclub

The singer is still in custody

Chris Brown has been arrested over an incident that happened over two years ago at the luxury Tape nightclub in Mayfair, London, The Sun reports. He currently remains in custody.

The singer was detained by police at 2 am on Thursday night (14th May) at The Lowry, a five-star hotel in Manchester where he was staying. It comes after he allegedly attacked music producer Abe Diaw with a tequila bottle at the club in February 2023.

“A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm,” the Metropolitan Police told The Sun in a statement. “He has been taken into custody where he remains.”

“The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit,” they continued.

The singer is due to begin his Breezy Bowl XX Tour in June, with shows at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Manchester’s Co-op Live, Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and Glasgow’s Hampden Park Nationality Stadium.

It will celebrate his iconic 20-year career and follows the singer’s highly successful 11:11 Tour in 2024, which celebrated his latest debut album of the same name.
