Meet the experts whose job it is to help those on Virgin Island to get well and truly intimate

‘I love being in erotic energy with people’

Virgin Island is the latest Channel 4 reality TV show to prove exactly why Channel 4 has the reputation in this country that it has, and it’s all I can think about right now. It’s chaos. 12 single people who’ve never had sex are whisked away to a secluded Croatian island for what might be the most awkward and empowering retreat of their lives. But it’s not just about dating or getting steamy; this six-part series is all about exploring intimacy, confidence, and connection in a totally non-judgy way. With help from real-life sexologists and intimacy coaches, the group dives into some pretty deep (and sometimes hilarious) conversations about love, bodies, and breaking down personal barriers. Right at the heart of it are the experts – the Virgin Island gurus.

But who actually are the Virgin Island experts helping this cast get more intimate? Here’s what you need to know about the two main experts at the heart of the show.

Dr Danielle Harel

Dr. Danielle Harel isn’t your average therapist—she’s a top sexologist, author, and co-creator of the Somatica Method, which is basically sex and relationship coaching with way more honesty and a lot less awkwardness. With over 20 years in the field and a PhD in human sexuality, she’s helped loads of people feel more confident, connected, and in touch with what they really want in love and life. She co-founded the Somatica Institute, teaches at the iconic Esalen Institute, and has written a few books along the way too. Now, you’ll find her on Channel 4’s Virgin Island, helping even more people!

Danielle says she loves her work, and says “I love this work because I love being in erotic energy with people. It helps me to remember to connect with my erotic energy every day.”

Celeste Hirschman

Celeste Hirschman is basically a sex and relationship guru with a mission to help people get real about intimacy—and actually enjoy it. She’s the co-creator of the Somatica Method (alongside Dr. Danielle Harel), which ditches awkward advice and dives into hands-on, emotionally honest coaching instead.

She’s co-authored a few books, co-founded the Somatica Institute, and even co-produced a steamy little TV series. Now she’s on Virgin Island with her partner in crime, Dr Harel!

Celeste says “I love this work so much because people are endlessly fascinating. There’s always more to learn and new ways to help people grow.”
