These are the five best TV shows to watch with a similar vibe to The Last of Us
Surely one of these shows will fill the Joel shaped void in your lives
There’s nothing worse than waiting over a year for the next season of your favourite show to drop. So I know, in a few weeks time, when The Last of Us season two comes to an end, there will be hoards of fans trying to fill that Joel and Ellie shaped void inside them.
Well, it’s a good job streaming services are jam packed with shows like to The Last of Us. However, because there are so many, I’ve made your life easier and selected the top five best shows to watch with a similar vibe.
The Walking Dead

via NOW TV
Obviously this was going to be on the list. It’s a zombie staple, and if you haven’t watched it, you should. It’s packed full of zombies, has an incredible cast, and at times, will break you heart.
The show follows Rick Grimes, a police officer, who wakes up in hospital to the world being over and there being hoards of zombies everywhere. He then sets off to find his family, and learn to survive in this new world.
It’s also a great show to dip in and out of, plus all the seasons are available to stream on NOW TV and Disney Plus.
Chernobyl

via HBO
I’m putting this one here as it has the same darkness and style as The Last of Us. Whilst, yes, it’s not about zombies, it’s about a disaster which destroyed many lives and had the potential of destroying Europe, if not the world.

The show is created by Craig Mazin who worked with Neil Druckmann to create The Last of Us, so Joel and Ellie fans, you’re in safe hands.
It’s one season long and follows the 1986 Chernobyl disaster, and those who put their lives on the line to save Europe.
You can watch it on NOW TV.
Black Summer

via Netflix
A lesser known zombie series, but a great watch nonetheless is Black Summer.
This series follows a mother played by Jamie King, on her search for her daughter after they’re separated at the start of a zombie apocalypse.
Available on Netflix, this show is in the same world as Z Nation, which is another show zombie fanatics should turn to, if they have a chance.
Fallout

via Amazon Prime Video
Okay, not exactly the same vibe but I’m putting this in here as it’s a game to TV show adaptation.
With a stellar cast featuring Walton Goggins and Ella Purnell, we follow the characters as they learn to live in a apocalyptic Los Angeles plagued by mutants and bandits.
You can watch Fallout on Prime Video.
The Leftovers

via NOW TV
The Leftovers is a three season long drama series which follows people in New York trying to rebuild their lives after their loved ones randomly disappear, and yes, I mean actually disappear.
There are no zombies, and the tone is rather different to The Last of Us, but if you like dark and sinister shows, you’ll like this one.
The cast features Justin Theroux, Margaret Qualley and Carrie Coon, and has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 82 per cent. Not too shabby.
You can watch The Leftovers on NOW TV.
