So James Charles tried Greggs for the first time and I can’t stop watching his unhinged review

Of course he held the chicken bake like it was an eyeshadow palette

YouTuber James Charles is known for a few things, mostly makeup and social media beef, but never did I guess that he would pivot into reviewing our beloved Greggs here in the UK.

Picture this: You’re working your very busy nine to five in the centre of London. You’ve got a morning rush and everyone from builders to businessmen are sending pastries flying off your shelf. It’s then you hear the words “Hi Sisters” and look up to see THE James Charles chowing down on a chicken bake. I can’t tell if it’s chilling or iconic.

James Charles is currently in the UK so naturally he had to visit some of our biggest institutions. He visited Buckingham Palace on Sunday according to his Instagram stories, so naturally, the next stop was Greggs. James posted about his experience on TikTok and has offered a resounding score out of 10 – take a look.

James Charles is basically Greggs’ new number-one fan

The first location James tried was unfortunately closed but after finding another one – which shouldn’t have been that hard as there are over 2,500 locations in the UK – he seemed utterly stunned by the glass cabinet display.

“This is it?” he questioned. “I just pick something from here?”

James ordered a chicken bake, the mandatory sausage roll, and a pepperoni pizza slice, and while fellow influencer Cal Edwards suggested he try the cheese and bean melt, James passionately responded, “I think beans are disgusting. I would never get beans.”

First up was the sausage roll and I think it’s reasonable to say that James Charles was shook. His eyes widened, he gasped, and he requested a bit of sauce so he’s basically a full-blown Brit already.

Displaying the chicken bake like a lipgloss in one of his videos, James questioned “Are you kidding me” at how “gorgeous” the pastry was. Personally, I’ve never looked at a chicken bake like a Picasso but I’m also not American. He demolished the entire thing before admitting it “hit the spot.”

Onto the pizza slice, which James said reminded him of school lunches, he was once again blown away by the quality and taste and ultimately rated Greggs a seven out of 10. He also said that it would hit the spot after a night out so no one tell him that Greggs ain’t open that late.

In the final moments, he said “Go off Gregg” and thanked THE Gregg for his genius restaurant. John Gregg died in 1964.

Most people in the comments requested more British-centric content ranging from a full face of Primark makeup to trying Lidl bakery, but others were just gassed to see James dipping his toe in British culture.

“Imagine ur just grabbing a cheeky vegan sausage roll and James Charles is just trying out Greggs next to u,” one person wrote.

Another said: “James Charles eating a Greggs wasn’t on my bingo card like.”
