Tony has revealed the real reason he left Morena alone in the MAFS Australia apartments

Intimacy Week didn’t go very well for Tony and Morena on MAFS Australia, who ended up even more distant as she was left alone in the apartments.

We saw the angry bride sarcastically call out for her husband for going home to Wollongong instead of staying in Sydney with her, but why did he leave?

In an interview with Nine, the charter captain said he had to go home and go out on his boat because that’s his way of de-stressing.

“If I’m stressed or tired, I just go out of my boat, and I’m just taking some time out. I regroup and I start thinking about what I’ve done. It’s just me. That’s just how I am,” he revealed.

“My late dad always said, ‘Tony, if you ever feel bad or you ever feel sad, go to the ocean and that will calm you down., so that’s what I do. That’s ‘Tony time’.”

“Do you know how many times I went fishing in my head?” the 53-year-old joked.

In the episode, Morena called Tony out for not wanting to spend time with her, saying he’d even rather be with his dog – but Tony actually had a very valid reason.

He told Nine that his dog was really unwell, so on top of needing to de-stress, he was also regularly going back to Wollongong to check on the pet.

It looked like the couple were getting closer when Morena asked him to paint her while she was wearing lingerie like in the movie Titanic.

During an Intimacy Week workshop with the other grooms, he said: “I tell you what guys, it was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever done in my life man.”

“I’m not the most romantic guy in the world, but that really felt nice to just have that connection with her there. It was really cool man.”

When Tony got back to the apartment, he kissed her on the cheek and everything seemed great between them, but it didn’t last long.

As soon as Tony started talking about his day at the intimacy workshop, Morena butted in and started telling him about her affirmations book.

He stormed off, saying he needed a “break” – and it looks like this could be the end of the road for the oldest couple in the experiment.
