Georgia Toffolo was mad controversial even before James Watt, or did we forget these moments?
If it walks like a Tory, and quacks like a Tory, it’s probably a bloody Tory
Georgia Toffolo has been in the public eye ever since Made In Chelsea so she’s obviously got some controversies that have followed her across reality TV and into her relationship with former BrewDog CEO James Watt.
Last week, we recalled the most insufferable moments in Georgia and James’ relationship history, from their quarterly reviews to their low-key wedding. But long before James entered the scene, Toff was still a posh totty with Conservative values – take a look.
1. Friendship with Boris Johnson’s dad
Toff and Boris Johnson’s dad Stanley met while they were filming I’m A Celeb in 2017 but they have remained friends ever since. Just for reference, this is the same Stanley Johnson who called voters idiots, weathered numerous troubling allegations, and did I mention he’s Boris Johnson’s dad?
“But he’s really good with his phone so the FaceTimes – he calls me every couple of weeks on FaceTime so it’s like I’m still in the jungle with him,” Toff said in 2023. “He’s brilliant, he makes me laugh.”
In the same interview, she defended her questionable political friendships, stating: “We have exactly the same sense of humour and, politically, I love a debate. I’ve never had such brilliant debates with anyone where we disagree so much. That’s a really important part of a friendship, for me, where you can sculpt your political views based on people who disagree with you.”
She cited her “Twitter friendship” with deputy Labour leader Angela Rayner as proof that you can be friends with anyone, but still, it doesn’t mean you should be.
To make matters even worse, she’s also friendly with Reform Party leader Nigel Farage – yuck!
2. Her ‘bloody leftie’ rant

Young Torys are constantly complaining that dating is hard for them because of their political views, so naturally Georgia went on Celebs Go Dating to find a match. It was here that she was matched with a left-wing guy and found herself “frustrated” by the conversation.
“He’s a bloody leftie This guy isn’t just left-wing, he’s literally Lord left-wing,” she said. “I just don’t understand how a young person of our age sits with the ideology of socialism. I think you want to go out and prosper, so how could you be left-wing? I’m finding this so frustrating. Seriously he’s a complete contradiction.”
Maybe – just maybe – young people feel a connection to socialism because they didn’t grow up in private schools like certain former Made in Chelsea stars.
3. Georgia Toffolo brings her hubby along for some controversies
Back in January, Georgia appeared in a since-deleted Instagram post alongside her now-husband James Watt. Was this a cute couple video that would proboably make us cringe just as hard? No, of course not, it was about how hard they work.
“I think the whole concept of work-life balance was invented by people who hate the work that they do. If you love what you do, you don’t need work-life balance, you need work-life integration,” James said to Georgia, who replied, “It’s so true, when I met James I was quite taken aback at how aligned we are in the important stuff and one of those things was a lack of work-life balance in a really beautiful way.”
Continuing, Georgia noted how she wouldn’t be able to date someone who didn’t understand her position on the infamous work-life balance.
“Work knows no bounds. Constantly in our home, we are working but we do things we find incredibly fulfilling and we also have a supportive other half that loves that high-octane obsession with what we do,” she added.
“I’ve always known I would end up with someone like James because it would not work otherwise. If someone was saying ‘You need to knock off now’ I would be thinking ‘What, do you not like my business? Do you not believe in me? Are we not striving towards the same thing?’”
Do you know who else loves to work hard? The employees that James refused to pay a living wage to.
4. When she appeared on This Morning to talk about her acne
In 2018, This Morning brought together Georgia Toffolo and Nikki Lilly to talk about facial disfigurements and bullying. Nikki lives with AVM (arteriovenous malformation), a rare condition that is characterised by an abnormal connection between arteries and veins, while Toff experienced acne from age 17.
Many took issue with the comparison and accused Toff of trying to relate to something she had no business doing.
“Wow, are they actually comparing acne to a facial disfigurement?? Acne is something totally different! Wow, I’m sorry but it seems like Toff is desperate for attention,” one person said on Twitter.
“This is absolutely ridiculous,” another said. “Toff should be ashamed that she’s comparing her acne to this incredibly brave girl, Nikki. Toff can wear makeup and can afford very expensive skin-correcting treatments, but this girl cannot. Toffs attention seeking again.”
Now that Georgia and James have tied the knot, I’m betting we’ll see even more controversial moments. Yay.
