Love Is Blind’s most controversial couple closes ranks with fiery statements addressing ‘hate’

‘I’ve always been nice and respectful’

Lauren O’Brien and Dave Bettenburg have issued lengthy statements on Instagram following an onslaught of hate they received for their relationship on Love Is Blind season eight.

There’s no denying that Lauren and Dave are the most controversial couple in Love Is Blind. Between Dave’s massive red-flag comments and what many people think is the REAL reason he took issue with Lauren’s friends-with-benefits situation, they are proving to be utterly exhausting in arguably the most boring season yet.

Nonetheless, the couple has recently posted lengthy statements on their Instagram stories calling for people to be kinder online.

Lauren hits out at the hate surrounding Love Is Blind

Lauren and Dave have been subjected to tons of negativity since the first half of the season dropped, and though you have to accept some pushback when signing up to reality TV, “disgusting” comments on Instagram are unnecessary and harmful.

Despite remaining fairly silent during Dave’s 40,000 problematic sentences and what he calls jokes, Lauren seemingly found her voice on Instagram after spying the mass amounts of negativity her relationship had received.

“Since when was it a prerequisite to be cast on a reality TV show that you need to be a perfect human and have all of your sh*t figured out? Everyone who went through this experience is a human with real feelings and reactions to what you’re commenting/messaging. The world needs more light, please be kind,” she said.

She didn’t stop there, getting a little spicer in a follow-up story with: “To everyone who has gone to a cast member’s page and commented something disgusting, I would LOVE to get you in front of a camera and let the world judge you in your most vulnerable moments.”

Dave also posted a statement and it was something

Dave Bettenburg’s comment section on Instagram is admittedly like a battleground, and though some justifiable comments are calling out his actions, those are eclipsed by vile and derogatory statements from others.

On his Instagram story, Dave called out his haters alongside a picture of him and Lauren during the vacation episodes.

He said: “I’ve never once said I’m perfect. I admitted that very early on in the pods. I went through this experiment the same as everyone else. I’ve always been nice and respectful to everyone I’ve ever met in my life.

“The amount of hate surrounding me online is insane and it’s impossible to stay quiet. Just because it’s ‘reality TV’ doesn’t mean you have to label people in a negative light. I have a life and a job outside of this and it’s really sad to read these things from people who don’t know me.”
