Don’t worry, Lamar Odom didn’t go on The Kardashians because he needed an extra pay day

Lamar Odom, who has a hefty net worth, turned up to Khloe Kardashian‘s best friend’s house with flowers to find out she was filming with The Kardashians. The reunion was set up by Khloe’s friend, Malika Haqq, who had bumped into him at a sports game and tried to help them rekindle their former romance, but to no avail. So why did he agree to go on the show in the first place?

Lamar walked into Khloe’s house with a bunch of red roses for the first time in years. They first married in 2009 after dating for just one month, before initially separating in 2013. Khloe and Lamar then got back together and didn’t finalize an official divorce until 2016, which was a result of his infidelity and substance issues at the time.

The thing is, he had no idea that, when he’d reunite with Khloe almost a decade on, he’d be filmed by camera crews. “And I went there, and there were cameras there and I was like, ‘Oh, all right,’” Lamar has since explained on The Kyle & Jackie O Show. “It’s cool, I understand it, you know.”

Khloe’s best friend, Malika Haqq, set them up after bumping into Lamar at a Superbowl game. He said, “She came to me, she said, ‘Lamar, I think it’s time for you and Khloé to [meet]… it’s been years.” He knows first-hand what it’s like to shoot a reality show, as he was on Khloe & Lamar back in the day, one of the show’s spin-offs during their marriage.

Lamar didn’t need to go on The Kardashians for an extra pay day, despite speculation Khloe invited him to be on it so he could get paid. He has a whopping $30 million net worth thanks to his NBA career, and he doesn’t need the reality TV show income his ex-wife currently gets. Sure, he’s no longer playing, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t paid millions during his career.

He’s believed to receive a salary of $8.2 million, while the famous family get a nine-figure salary for their Hulu show. Plus, the fact he had no idea he was even going on camera is more proof that he’s happily making his own money, and spends his time going on podcasts while seeing his loved ones in his spare time.

When he turned up to Malika’s house, he spotted a picture of the mom-of-two with her son Tatum, who is two, on her phone background. “Like out of body right now, a little bit,” he says about how he’s feeling, before looking at her screensaver again. “He looks like you a lot.” It’s literally gut-wrenching, as it’s clear he’s thinking about what could have been between them.
