Woman living in Amy Bradley’s former house shares what it’s like living there now

She has also shared her theories about the case

Netflix recently released Amy Bradley Is Missing, a chilling new docuseries revisiting the mysterious disappearance of 23-year-old Amy Bradley, who vanished from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship in 1998. But while interest in the decades-old case is being renewed, one woman has found herself connected to the tragedy unexpectedly, by living in the very home Amy once called her own.

Shelby Peers is a 26-year-old mom of three. She moved into the Bradley family’s former house in Chesterfield County, Virginia, in 2019. She didn’t know anything about its link to one of the most infamous missing persons cases in recent American history.

So, what’s it like living in Amy Bradley’s old house?

Peers, who lives in the house with her husband and their young children, has now become an unexpected part of the story. Now more than ever as one of her TikTok videos about maintaining Amy’s garden went viral on TikTok.

“It’s really weird living in Amy’s house,” she said. “I didn’t know her story when we moved in, but my husband told me about it, and then I researched everything I could about the case.”

In the video, Peers talks about keeping up the garden that once belonged to Amy, which she’s since made a quiet mission to care for. She originally posted it just for her friends, but the video unexpectedly blew up, now with over 1.3 million views.

“I only had 1,200 followers before that,” she explained. “I just shared this video for my friends, and then it blew up, I was not expecting that at all.”

The viral clip brought her into contact with Amy’s family, including her brother, Brad Bradley, who reached out to thank her. “They appreciate me keeping her garden maintained as much as I’m able to,” Peers said. “They love that there’s a family in the home with children. It was taken really well.”

Peers shared her own theory about what really happened to Amy Bradley

Amy Bradley vanished in the early hours of March 24, 1998, while on a Caribbean cruise with her family aboard the Rhapsody of the Seas. Her father last saw her around 5:30 a.m. on their private balcony. By the time the family awoke later that morning, she was gone and has never been found.

Over the years, theories around her disappearance have ranged from accidental death to abduction and sex trafficking. But Peers doesn’t believe Amy jumped or fell. Instead, she thinks Amy may have left the cabin to meet someone and could have been targeted. She believes it’s possible Amy was taken and trafficked.

Despite the haunting history, Peers says her family enjoys living in the home. “We really like the house,” she said. “It’s a great neighbourhood, it’s a nice house, and her garden is beautiful.”

Peers says she’s simply trying to honour Amy’s memory however she can. “I’m just trying to spread information about Amy online,” she said. “Her family appreciates knowing someone is keeping her memory alive.”
