Love Island’s Chuggs has the most random job ever selling bucket hats for a living

The whole thing sounds like it should be a joke

Chuggs Wallis is the newest Islander in the All Stars villa, coming in as a bombshell alongside Samie Elishi.

The posh 26-year-old was on Love Island in 2021 but only lasted two days in the villa. That was just long enough to expose his random job though – he sells bucket hats!

In his original VT, he famously said “I’m Chuggs, I’m 23 and I run a bucket hat business in Surrey” and he still owns the business to this day.

It’s called Booby. Yes, really! The company is named after the Blue Footed Booby Bird which is found on the Galápagos Islands and the logo is a picture of the bird.

The brand is partnered with the Galapagos Conservation Trust, a charity that aims to protect the wildlife on the islands, including the Booby Bird.

Running the business is literally is full-time job alongside playing rugby for Reeds Weybridge, and it’s actually really successful.

The website reveals Chuggs founded it while on a pub crawl around Oxford in 2020, just before the COVID lockdown. By the way, Chuggs isn’t actually his real name

“Our founder, Chuggs, was celebrating his 21st birthday and wanted to give his friends something unique to remember it by. He landed on pink corduroy bucket hats, which were an instant hit,” it says.

Everyone loved them, so he asked his rugby clubs if they’d be interested in custom bucket hats with their logos and colours. Word quickly spread and he began making merch for all kinds of major UK unis and sports teams.

“I thought I may as well ask the rugby boys at uni if they too would like some customised bucket hats. I have played rugby for both Brookes Union and league 1st teams so knew the lads well. They were very keen to I put in an order for them,” he told The Tab at the time.

They’ve now moved on, selling other items like beanies, hoodies, coats and keyrings as well as their own collections. Plus, they even did a pop-up shop in the Alps for their new ski collection and have stalls at sports matches and music festivals.
