From Ariana Grande to Lana Del Rey: All the celebs who shadily skipped the Grammys and why

Whilst a whole host of celebrities are nominated for an award at the Grammys, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re going to show up, as some musicians skipped the event altogether.

So, from Selena Gomez to Travis Kelce, here are all the celebrities who were invited to the Grammys but didn’t end up attending, alongside why they didn’t show up.

Ariana Grande

Something tells me that Ariana Grande was internally screaming when she saw Taylor Swift sitting on Cynthia Evro’s lap, and despite not attending the Grammys I half expected her to burst through the doors.

However, unlike some of the other celebrities who skipped out on the Grammys but weren’t actually nominated for anything, Ariana was actually nominated for multiple awards. These included Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Dance Pop Recording, but it still wasn’t enough to tempt her to attend.

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez has been going through it recently after posting an emotional video of herself crying over migrant deportations, so it makes sense that whilst she wasn’t invited she might not have been in the mood for the Grammys.

She also wasn’t nominated for any Grammys for her most recent song, which was released in February 2024. It doesn’t exactly help that Selena Gomez has been involved in all the drama surrounding Emilia Perez due to her role in the film.

Travis Kelce

It was strange seeing Taylor Swift rock up the Grammys without her other half, but as the Chiefs are playing for the Super Bowl next Sunday it makes sense that every millisecond he has available he’s going to be spent training.

A source told Entertainment Tonight: “Although Travis would have loved to be with Taylor…she feels so supported by him and knows he will be cheering her on.”

Dua Lipa

Honesty, Dua Lipa is out here living her best life in Paris so out of all the celebrities who skipped the Grammys I really do get it. She also wasn’t nominated for any awards so fair enough.

A$AP Rocky and Rihanna

Whilst Rihanna hasn’t released new music in years, neither she nor ASAP Rocky attended the Grammys. The main reason for this is presumably that the rapper is currently on trial after being accused of firing a gun at a former collaborator, with Rihanna standing by his side throughout the trial process.

Bad Bunny

Whilst Bad Bunny was nominated for Best Música Urbana Album at the 2025 Grammys, he was yet another one of the celebrities who skipped the event.

Lana Del Rey

Honestly, if I was Lana and had been nominated for 11 Grammys and had never won even once you’d best believe I’d be at home on the sofa with a pint of Ben & Jerry’s. Or in her case, surrounded by her friendly pet gators.
