Lady Gaga finally speaks out about how Joker 2 got hated on by critics and public alike

You’d have to be living under a rock to not have noticed that despite the fact the film had a huge cast of star power with Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in lead and the first movie being a massive critical and commercial success, Joker 2 (Folie a Deux) well and truly flopped. Not only did the critical reception plummet, but the box office return was shocking and the film got completely snubbed in the upcoming awards ceremonies. It’s rare that a film starring Lady Gaga flops or doesn’t do well critically, and up until now she’s been quite tight lipped about the reaction to Joker 2. Now however, Lady Gaga speaks out and revealed how she felt about Joker 2 being basically a massive flop.

Lady Gaga getting cast as Harley Quinn was a big deal – and with the run up to the film her releasing companion album Harlequin  you can tell that this was to be seen as a big era. But after things with the Joker quickly went sour, it all went quiet on the Harley Quinn front and focus remained on Die With A Smile – her massive hit with Bruno Mars – and Disease. The latter being the lead single of her upcoming album Mayhem.

In a new mega profile with Elle Magazine, Lady Gaga addressed Joker 2 being a big flop and candidly shared how she actually feels about it.

“People just sometimes don’t like some things,” Gaga told Elle in an interview published Tuesday. ‘It’s that simple. And I think to be an artist, you have to be willing for people to sometimes not like it. And you keep going even if something didn’t connect in the way that you intended.” She adds that the fear of failure is what can be really damaging: “When that makes its way into your life, that can be hard to get control of. It’s part of the mayhem.”
