Omg, Lady Gaga is ‘in shock’ at Joker: Folie à Deux flopping and is gagging to move on

Apparently she’s eyeing up a role in the next Quentin Tarantino movie

| UPDATED

Lady Gaga is apparently “disappointed” and “in shock” that her new film Joker: Folie à Deux has flopped both critically and commercially, and is said to be desperate to move on from it all. Her role as Harley Quinn in Todd Phillips’ sequel to his 2019 film which saw Joaquin Phoenix bag an Oscar was much hyped, but the reception has been bad both from film critics and from the public. Gaga hasn’t publicly commented on the reaction, but sources are saying that she’s keen to move on from it all ASAP.

Joker: Folie à Deux debuted this weekend lower than famous comic book flop Morbius, and currently holds the lowest CinemaScore rating for any comic book movie in history. Yikes. Apparently Lady Gaga is confused over the negative reaction to the film, after Joker: Folie à Deux got an eight minute standing ovation in Venice where it premiered.

“Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker: Folie à Deux and is shocked that people don’t love it after the response it received from critics before it premiered,” a source told the Daily Mail. “She put so much heart into the movie and has so much respect for the DC comics fan base. Her team is quietly looking at other projects they can roll out as they want to move on this from as quickly as possible.”

The Joker sequel is Lady Gaga’s third major film role after her Oscar nominated performance in A Star is Born and House of Gucci. According to another source, Joker flopping has not put Gaga off acting and she’s said to be after a role in the next Quentin Tarantino movie –  his last film.

A second source told the Mail Gaga is “is disappointed that Joker is pretty much a bomb. She thought that this film could get her an Oscar nomination, especially since the first film was such a success and Joaquin won an Oscar. She would now like to land a role in Quentin Tarantino’s next and final film. Nobody knows what that is going to be, but she wants to audition.  She’s going to lobby hard to get a meeting with him once a script is presented, it is a bucket list moment for her to be involved.”

To be fair, Lady Gaga would absolutely kill it in a Tarantino film – she really matches his maximalism. In other reactionary moments to the film of note, a video went viral of Gaga and Joaquin getting asked if the film was what they were expecting, and their reaction is less than enthused.

She also shouldn’t dwell on Joker stuff too long – she’s got LG7 right around the corner, with the icon teasing the lead single would be dropping in October. She’s also still thriving with her Bruno Mars collab Die With A Smile, still going strong in the top 10 of the charts.
