Selling Sunset’s Jason Oppenheim is being dragged for his ‘out of touch’ article about the LA fires
People are calling him ‘ridiculous’ and ‘an idiot’
Jason Oppenheim from Selling Sunset wrote a lengthy article about his opinions on the LA fires, and people are not impressed with him.
The piece is called “Selling Sunset star JASON OPPENHEIM: LA’s stupid politicians failed my celebrity real estate clients” and was published in the Daily Mail yesterday. People are calling out Jason for being “out of touch” and not writing enough about all the people who live in Los Angeles but aren’t his “celebrity real estate clients”.
Jason complained, “Politicians are so focused on doing the sexy things that get them re-elected instead of doing the hard dirty work to protect us and keep us safe. Forestry is not sexy.” He feels very concerned for his clients whose mansions burned down in the fire, who might now lose money if they try to sell their land. “These people have suffered enough.” Jason Oppenheim has spoken about how the LA fires will impact real estate prices at length recently on his Instagram.
A Reddit user commented, “This whole article reeks of ‘wealthy man complains that his wealthy clients lost their multi-million dollar homes’. Jason is an issue-motivated virtue signaller, and by that I mean he’s only whining and bitching now because it has a direct impact on his multi-million profit margins.”
“There are more people who live there and suffered horrifically devastating losses, other than just your celebrity clients,” a person pointed out.

Jason wished politicians had given more money to the fire department, and spent less on infrastructure projects such as a new train between Bakersfield and Merced. He complained, “That is not set to be finished until 2033 at the earliest and it will be completely outdated by the time it’s done because we’ll have autonomous vehicles. No one’s going to want to drive to a train station to take some dumb *ss train for four hours when they could just have driven there watching their television and reclining in their safe self-driving car.”
People were not impressed by Jason’s attitudes towards public transport.
“Who needs public transportation?” a Reddit user joked, “we are all going to be chauffeured around in our private cars and private jets anyways. What do you mean there are people who can’t afford that? I’ve never met anyone like that.”
A Reddit user wrote, “It’s extra ridiculous that he wants additional government spending but not additional taxes. Where does he think the money comes from?”
Jason Oppheim has been very critical of the Los Angeles “mansion tax” in the past.
“This makes me want to stop watching the show,” someone added, “what an idiot.”
“My God, did Chrishell dodge the biggest bullet with this man. Praise G,” wrote a Reddit user.
The article emphasised that Jason Oppenheim, who has an estimated net worth of $50 million (£41 million) donated $100,000 (£82,000) himself to the Los Angeles fire department. The Daily Mail says this was “largely in an effort to bring some attention to the need to fund them more.”
