So Marcel is actually still married, despite appearing on Love Island All Stars

He literally said he wouldn’t do the show because of it

Marcel Somerville has just been announced as part of the Love Island All Stars 2025 cast – which shocked a few people because he’s still… married?

Marcel was first in the villa in 2017, during season three. He left the show with Gabby Allen, but they broke up not long later, after it was revealed he had cheated on her. After that relationship, he went on to get married to someone else, who he shares a child with.

Marcel is technically still married, despite his Love Island All Stars appearance

After breaking up with Gabby, Marcel got into a relationship with Rebecca Vieira. Marcel and Rebecca welcomed a son, Roman, in January 2021. He and Rebecca then got married in August 2022.

However, he and Rebecca split up in March last year. She then posted to say she was the reason their marriage didn’t work out, and admitted she had cheated on Marcel with American rapper, Slim Jxmmi.

“I’ve made a huge mistake. I’ve embarrassed not only my husband but myself and both our families,” she said on Instagram at the time. “My actions were foolish and have hurt so many people around us but most importantly my husband.”

She added: “I want to publicly apologise to my Marcel, just as loudly as the rest of the noise. For all the hurt, embarrassment and pain I have put him through there is nothing and no one in the world that comes before you and our family. No-one could ever compare.”

It’s understood that Marcel is still married but in the process of a divorce from Rebecca. Shortly after the news of Rebecca cheating, Marcel actually said he wouldn’t go on All Stars because he’s still married. When asked about the show, he said: “I’m married, so doing isn’t in my view right now, and it wouldn’t have been at the time.”

So, erm, what changed?
