GK Barry explains the real reason Netflix gave her a random cameo in Missing You
‘I wanted to do it because I thought it was kind of iconic’
One person I wasn’t expecting to see in the cast of new Netflix thriller Missing You was GK Barry. I love her to bits and back her global domination, but girl, this was random.
Missing You follows a detective whose other half has disappeared, and then suddenly she sees him on a dating app. Whilst this is going on, we are also following the story of missing person, Rishi Magari. Rishi has some sort of connection to Vanessa, played by GK Barry. As with any Harlan Coben series, it’s all very mysterious and we’ll have to wait and see how all the different parts of the plot link up.
So, how did GK Barry land her cameo in the Missing You cast?
Of course, GK Barry is best known as a TikToker, and host of her podcast Saving Grace. She was recently in the I’m A Celeb jungle, so has definitely been booked and busy. But one thing she isn’t known for is acting. So naturally, people have been shocked by her appearance.
Speaking to Cosmopolitan, Grace revealed the reason she bagged her cameo. She said someone from production reached out and asked her if she wanted to be a part of the show. “They approached my manager and said, ‘We’re doing this new Netflix show, and we’d love Grace to be a little part in it.’ And I thought, ‘Well, I’m not going to say no’,” she said.

“So we got on a call, and they were explaining who my character was, and it made me laugh so much because it’s very on brand.” No spoilers here, but Grace said her character is a “foot cam girl.”
So, once Grace was onboard, filming took place last year. She added: “They gave me a brief outline of what it was about and read me the line up of people [involved] and I thought, ‘I absolutely will do that.’ I just wanted to do it because I thought it was kind of iconic. I want to build the CV up so my parents cannot moan about anything!”
She said she would “do [more acting], like The Office vibes, or something that doesn’t involve tense acting.” Grace explained we’re not going to see her in anything like Game of Thrones anytime soon, but we’ll take it!
