GK Barry reveals exactly how I’m A Celeb producers convinced her to sign up to the jungle

Despite the huge paycheck, she wasn’t always sold on the idea

GK Barry has spoken out about how she got in the cast of I’m A Celeb 2024, and it turns out she wasn’t always that sure on the idea of the jungle.

Despite the huge pay associated with the show, and GK making TikToks years in advance detailing how good she’d be as a campmate, it turns out she needed a bit of convincing. Appearing on Great Company with Jamie Laing, she detailed the phone call she had with ITV ahead of her casting.

“Mickey from ITV gave me a call,” GK Barry, real name Grace, explained. “So, I’m like, ‘what could this be?’. She’s like, ‘listen, this is the nicest cast we’ve ever had.’ She basically told me all the bad things and all the good things. She was really open with it. I thought, fine, I can do this. And then also, one thing about me is I’m always in denial before something.

“But in my head, I was like, it’s not going to happen. Then it got to the week before, and I was Googling [the] worst bushtucker trials to make myself feel worse.”

However, Grace then explained the phone call with ITV must have worked, because she ended up on the flight. But, she was still unsure.

“And then I was on the plane, and I thought, I can’t even say no, because my manager’s booked a flight out here,” she continued. “In the lockdown I was struggling with not having my phone, and wondering ‘what are people saying about me?’”

So basically, if it weren’t for a phone call from ITV and her manager going ahead and knowing she’d be a great addition in the camp, we might not have had GK this year.

Plus, GK Barry was reportedly paid £150k for being in the I’m A Celeb 2024 jungle. That would have been a pretty good incentive!
