A Swansea student has returned from the World Kickboxing Championships with two gold medals.
Charley Davies, who is a second-year education student at Swansea University, has brought home an impressive collection of medals from the WKU World Championship, where she represented Wales for the third time.
In her first appearance at the WKU World Championships in Cardiff in 2022, Charley won one silver and two bronze medals. The following year in Canada, she achieved another silver and three bronze medals, adding to her growing collection collection.
This year the competition was held in Rhodes, Greece, where Charley competed in the 55kg Karate Kumite and Pointfighting to the challenging, 60kg Karate Kumite. At the end of the Championship, Charley was awarded two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze, a rewarding moment after years of dedication and representing Wales.
Speaking with Swansea University, Charley said: “I wouldn’t have achieved my goal without the amazing support from everyone, including my coaches, my family, and the scholarship team. I’m extremely thankful for the help throughout my journey.”
Charley is not only a talented kickboxer but also a great performer. Last year, she performed as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde and is currently rehearsing for her role in Shrek the Musical.
A spokesperson from Swansea University said: “We couldn’t be prouder of Charley’s incredible achievements both on and off the mat. She truly embodies the spirit of Swansea University, and we’re excited to see what she’ll accomplish next.”
