The only correct ranking of all the Bridget Jones films, including the new one coming out

It’s time to re-watch them all

The trailer for the brand new Bridget Jones film Mad About the Boy just came out and I’m SO excited.

It’s the fourth installment in the series and sees Renée Zellweger reprise her role as Bridget, who navigates the challenges of single motherhood, online dating, and life in her 50s.

The movie comes out on Valentine’s Day next year, so you’ve got plenty of time to re-watch the other three – but which one is the best?

Here is the only correct ranking of the films, including the new one. No arguments.

4. Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy

Coming in straight at last place is the upcoming fourth film. It hasn’t even been released yet and it’s already the worst one. Why? They killed off Mr Darcy. Renée without Colin is a crime, so it’s instantly bottom of the ranking. In the movie, which is based on the books by Helen Fielding, Mark is killed while working abroad as a human rights lawyer. Enough said.

3. Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason

The second Bridget Jones movie comes in at third. There was nothing wrong with it, it’s just not as good as the others. However, it still had some epic moments like Mr Darcy fighting with Daniel Cleaver (aka Hugh Grant) outside an art gallery in Kensington Gardens, Colin Firth’s long-awaited proposal, and his assistant Rebecca confessing her love for Bridget.

2. Bridget Jones’s Baby

Second place is Bridget Jones’ Baby, purely due to the fact we finally got a new Bridget Jones movie after 12 years, so it was a huge deal. Oh, and Bridget married Mr Darcy, obviously! He thankfully turned out to be the father of her baby and everything was right in the world. Then, the craziness of Daniel being found alive at the end was the cherry on top.

1. Bridget Jones’s Diary

First place has to go to the first Bridget Jones movie, it simply can’t be beaten. From Bridget’s chaoticness in her London flat that we can all relate to, to the hilarious “Tarts & Vicars” costume party and Bridget epically kissing Mr Darcy in the snow wearing just tiger-print knickers, a cardigan, and trainers, it’s the ultimate cosy chick-flick.
