Man arrested after being seen ‘shimmying up a drain pipe’ of a Nottingham student house
He was then seen climbing through the house’s window on Lenton Boulevard
A man has been arrested after scaling the drainpipe of a student house in Nottingham.
Officers were called to the house on Lenton Boulevard in Beeston at 7:15pm on 24th September after getting reports that someone had climbed through an open window at the property.
According to the Nottingham Post, a 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, and was further arrested on suspicion of theft in connection with the theft of a razor from the Tesco Extra store in Beeston in July.
Nottinghamshire Police has now put out a warning to locals and students, asking them to be more “vigilant”.
Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould, said: “Burglary is an extremely upsetting crime so we can’t emphasise enough the importance of making sure your house or flat is secure.
“A lot of burglaries we investigate are committed by offenders entering through home insecurities, be it open windows or unlocked doors, so we’re urging students, as well as the general public, to be vigilant and take precautions to minimise their chances of becoming a victim of burglary.
“We’d advise people to make sure windows and doors are locked, even if they are only popping out for a few minutes, and to keep valuables out of sight so they can’t be seen by passing members of public or entice opportunistic burglars.
“We know that burglary can have a significant impact on victims and the wider community. This is unacceptable I want to reassure people that Nottinghamshire Police is committed to dealing with burglaries.”
