A person has been seriously injured in an assault on Salisbury Road in Cathays
This comes as recent data showed there were 218 sexual or violent crimes committed in Cathays in one month
A person has been seriously assaulted on Salisbury Road in Cathays, Cardiff.
Police were called to the scene at 10pm on Friday 15th December where the victim was found, Wales Online reported.
South Wales Police confirmed the victim had sustained “serious” injuries and was rushed to hospital where his condition has now been described as “non-life threatening”.
Crime has increased in Cathays according to new police data which shows 218 sexual or violent crimes reported in the area in October 2023. This is an increase of 56 from September 2023 when 162 crimes of this nature were committed.
October 2023 is the most recent month with data available from South Wales Police.
Data also showed that violent and sexual crimes made up more than a quarter of crimes committed in the area during that month.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police has said enquiries are still ongoing.
