Struggling to study? Here are some of Liverpool’s best study spots

As the cold weather spreads across Liverpool and revision season is in full swing, bagging a spot in the library is pretty much an extreme sport. If you are one of the lucky few that manage to snag a table, the endless nine ’til fives at the Sydney Jones become fairly boring – you know it’s bad when you begin to recognise other regulars in the basement group study. Here are some of my favourite study spots in Liverpool that will help to spice up the long and dark study days.

92 Degrees

A campus classic: The coffee is amazing and the atmosphere is vibrant and chatty. It certainly feels a lot more cosy than the Harold Cohen, and the ambient lighting means you can at least try to romanticise those hard graft deadline days. With two cafes close to the University of Liverpool campus, it is a great spot for a more social study spot, but it can get pretty busy so grab a table and hold onto it for dear life!

Nomad:

A personal favourite for those of you that are Smithdown icons – the vibes are immaculate and the all day breakfast is only £8.50 if you’re looking for a mid-study treat (if you’re veggie, don’t worry – they have you covered!). Nomad is definitely one of Smithdown’s gems, and a perfect place to hide away and get that coursework done and dusted. It is a lot smaller than 92 Degrees, so if you can’t quite hack the treacherous trek to uni, head to Nomad for a snug study day. If you can’t get enough of it (like me), Nomad is open late Friday to Sunday, so you can drop the books and grab a pint and enjoy one of their jazz nights or open mics.

Press Bros. Coffee

If you fancy a bit of a hot girl walk in Sefton Park before settling down for a long day at the laptop, Press Bros. Coffee is a lovely independent coffee shop in Lark Lane. The coffee is unreal and the menu is scrumptious, and the bright and colourful interior will help you feel pumped and ready to tackle your day – you don’t want to be caught snoozing mid-coursework! It is definitely a hot spot in Lark Lane, so if you need a busy environment to feel pressured into working, this is the place for you. Get yourself down there and get your steps in on the way.

Mother Espresso

Mother Espresso has a gorgeous variety of warming drinks and light bites, from freshly baked Everything Bagels to organic matcha lattes, perfect for those extra frosty days when you simply cannot face the library. This location has a quieter atmosphere, which is ideal for a solo study day, and the light and airy interior provides a wonderful alternative to the Sydney Jones’s gloomy Grove Wing.

Deadline and Exam season is tough enough, so look after yourself with a coffee shop date and a sweet treat to make studying just slightly more bearable!
