Tate McRae just dropped her new single It’s Ok I’m Ok, and it continues the trajectory she established with last year’s Greedy and Exes that she is a pop star who can absolutely serve a banger with a music video that showcases how unreal a performer and dancer she is. You can barely move online right now for videos of people gagging over how hard she serves. But what was Tate McRae like before she broke through as a credible pop girl? Obviously, she was always dancing – but she actually gained her notoriety once she started getting attention on YouTube and this look back at how cute she was on there is honestly just too adorable. I can’t believe I’ve never seen all these old Tate McRae YouTube videos before because it is literally emotional seeing how much she’s made it.

13 years ago, Tate McRae’s first YouTube video went up. She composed her own song called I Want To at just seven years old! The description of the video says she worked out how to use GarageBand for the first time and this is what she came up with. For a seven year old this is practically Mozart level, honestly.

The 10 year old vocal audition

This one is just too cute. A vocal audition she’s posted aged 10 shows Tate singing Naughty from Matilda. This is how I learned that she’s only 21 now. Wild. She better have got the part, I swear to god.

By the time Tate was 15, she had started the Create With Tate series on YouTube. She’s writing her own songs and singing them on YouTube and it is honestly the most old school YouTube thing I’ve ever seen. The little theme tune is making me laugh so much. She’s come such a long way.

I think what’s so nice about these old Tate McRae YouTube videos is nobody can say she hasn’t been absolutely grafting for years and working on her craft. It’s too easy to look at a pop star and think they’ve been manufactured by a record label. This is a girl who has been uploading to get noticed and build her profile since she was seven!
