Everyone’s fuming at Sabrina Carpenter ticket prices as gigs, once again, stay unaffordable
‘Waited in the queue for Sabrina tickets only for them to be £234’
Sabrina Carpenter has sparked major outrage on social media today after tickets went on sale for her Short N Sweet tour only for people looking to buy be greeted with insanely high ticket prices. Some fans have reported seats up in the gods, also known as ‘the nosebleeds’, coming in at over £200 on Ticketmaster. After backlash for the same thing happening to Billie Eilish, who has been struggling to sell out her HIT ME HARD AND SOFT tour – it seems to be a growing trend that gigs are consistently insanely high priced – especially when the initial demand is there.
Nosebleeds shouldn’t be £250 when I paid £25 to see Sabrina on her last tour. Really disappointing from Sabrina and her team. pic.twitter.com/fB7b2LYzss

The demand is clearly huge after Sabrina Carpenter has had her biggest year of her career – with two big hits in the way of Espresso and Please Please Please. But the steep increase in costs is raising eyebrows in the cost of living crisis – especially when these aren’t particularly premium or special seats.
On Twitter, people are pointing out the vast difference they paid to see artists far bigger than Carpenter. One said “I paid £80 to see Beyoncé” – that was only last year, when Bey was touring her massive Renaissance tour.
Another mentioned how these £200+ prices are more than what people paid to see Madonna tour her greatest hits last year – in what was admittedly already a very expensive tour.
This is twice what i paid quite a bit lower down at the o2 to see Madonna lol

One person explained how this is an example of dynamic pricing, which services like Ticketmaster use to adjust prices to suit current demand. “Dynamic pricing. This is what the ticket agencies are doing now. If demand is high the prices will increase. For Girls Aloud you could’ve picked up a ticket for £35 on the week of the concert it was so undersold. The O2 isn’t a huge stadium with 70k seats which bumps the price up.”

As I often do in the conversation around ticket prices, I think it’s wild that last year I paid £100 of a full day’s entertainment to see Lana Del Rey at BST Hyde Park. Acts were on all day before her, including The Last Dinner Party, Father John Misty and Gang of Youths. People have reported getting Sabrina Carpenter ticket prices today at around 70 quid, but looks like most are also looking to pay in the hundreds. For just one night’s show.
The cheapest eras tour tickets were like £95 and that's for a 3 hour show with Taylor, multiple support acts including *PARAMORE* and the knowledge that all the event staff are getting paid better than they would at the average artist's https://t.co/yRMqr2niQl

People have mentioned Eras Tour prices for Taylor Swift, which was a three hour show with Paramore supporting.
