Joe Keery TikTok

Guys, TikTok’s new ‘Take the man out of the city’ viral sound is sung by Joe Keery?!

Not THE Steve Harrington soundtracking all the TikTok girlies

So there’s a song that’s absolutely everywhere on TikTok right now called End of Beginning, but you’ll probably know it from the words “You can take the man out of the city but not the city out the man” before it goes onto sing “And when I’m back in Chicago”. Know the one?

Well, it turns out the guy singing that song is actually Joe Keery AKA Steve Harrington from Stranger Things??! Freaking out right now.

The song started to go viral a few days ago and people were posting very angsty videos about moving to a big city for uni and missing home. But what most people weren’t realising is that it’s actually our very own Joe Keery singing.

In a TikTok to the song, one person said: “So no one was gonna tell me this was the guy from Stranger Things… I thought this was some indie musician. Why is this the best song I’ve ever heard, I’ve only been to Chicago once.”

Joe then posted a TikTok to the song with the caption “I’ve been tokked”. It now has over 3.1 million views.

Alongside starring in Stranger Things, Joe Keery has had kind of an iconic music career. He used to be in a band called Post Animal and now he’s solo he releases music under the name “Djo”.

Speaking on The Tonight Show, Joe said that the name is pronounced “Joe”, as though the D is silent. It’s like psychedelic pop vibes, and he has over 2.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

The new viral TikTok song is called End of Beginning and is part of his 2022 album DECIDE. Since people have been finding out it’s him there’s been a whole load of gatekeeping from the big fans saying they knew all about his music career before he went big on TikTok.

Gonna have “TAKE THE CITY OUT THE MAN” in my head for the foreseeable while I wait for Stranger Things season five.

Stranger Things 4 is available on Netflix now. For more like this Joe Keery TikTok song bombshell and all the latest Netflix news, drops, quizzes and memes like The Holy Church of Netflix on Facebook.
