Tyrique reveals the real reason he made *that* face at the Love Island final

When Tyrique and Ella came in third place during the Love Island 2023 final, their reactions created memes that will forever live on.

The final saw Jess and Sammy win the show, with Whitney and Lochan placing as the runners up and Tyrique and Ella and Zach and Molly following after.

The couple, who had been together since the very start, were far from impressed but were quick to change to all smiles and Tyrique has finally revealed why.

During an appearance on Toby’s Fancy a Chat? podcast, Tyrique was quizzed on the final and explained what was going on in those moments.

“I’ll be real, I wanted to win. I’m not going to lie and say I didn’t want to win. I thought I’m in the final now, I may as well go for gold,” he explained.

“[When I heard], ‘Ella and Ty third’ in my head I was like, ‘Oh sh*t’ and then I’ve gone, ‘I’m on live TV’. So then I’m fake smiling and all of that.”

During the final, viewers were quick to notice Tyrique’s reaction, saying he looked “fuming” at coming in third place and now we know he probably was!

Tyrique and Ella have remained in a couple since leaving the villa, spending most of their time in London with Whitney and Catherine.

At least he’s honest!
