The biggest transformations in the High School Musical series cast from season one to four

I can’t believe it’s all over

The final season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is now on Disney+ and the cast have been on a journey like no other in the past three years. Since 2020, four seasons have dropped and there have been bangers after bangers and a healthy dose of drama of course.

It may have only been three years since the first season dropped on Disney+ in the midst of lockdowns, but the cast have changed A LOT. They’re obviously older, had their lives turned upside down through their overnight fame and are simply glowing differently. So, here’s a look at how different the cast of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series look since their transformations since season one.

Olivia Rodrigo had a lesser role in the later seasons of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and has had one of the biggest transformations. Olivia skyrocketed to fame following the release of her debut album SOUR and is set to release her next album, Guts, in September 2023.

Joshua Bassett had a big glow up over the course of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. He also rose to fame following the high-profile drama he found himself embroiled in following Olivia’s song Drivers License.

Sofia Wylie

Sofia Wylie was a breakout star on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and has been bossing it ever since. She more recently starred in the Netflix movie, The School for Good and Evil.

Matt Cornett

Matt hasn’t changed all that much since season one of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series but at least his character has become less unbearable.

Dara Renee

Dara Renee really is that girl just like her character, Kourtney. We see Kourtney go on a personal growth journey on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and we love her for it.

Julia Lester

Julia Lester’s character, Ashlyn, was met with praise in the season three finale for her coming out scene. In episode six, Ashlyn begins clashing with Val. Despite Val being nice to her, Ashlyn is on edge around Val and often snaps at her. Ashlyn apologises to Val and says she’s unsure why she’s been acting this way.

However, Val then hugs Ashlyn and fireworks go off in the background. Processing that she has feelings for Val in that moment, Ashlyn then comes out to the viewer and says: “Oh, that’s why.”

Love!!!

Frankie A. Rodriguez hasn’t had a huge transformation but he got some glasses! Slay!

Like a few of the cast members, Larry hasn’t had a major transformation but we’ve loved Big Red from start to finish.
