Later that day, TMZ reports that Ariana and Dalton “had marriage trouble of late including a rough patch a few months ago”. But the publication hadn’t said anything about the couple’s relationship status.

The next day, the outlet reports that Ariana and Dalton have separated and are “heading for divorce”. Sources had told TMZ the couple were having problems and remained friends while Ariana was filming Wicked.

As the details were published, three sources spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the couple.

“Ariana and Dalton tried to make things work, but ultimately they were just not a good fit. Dalton has been very private and lowkey about their relationship with his work colleagues and hasn’t been talking a lot about their split,” one source said.

A source then tells Us Weekly “Dalton is really hoping to make things work with Ariana,” and wasn’t “ready to give up on their marriage”.

While the internet buzz dies down about the divorce, it only sparks further when TMZ reports that Ethan Slater and Ariana Grande are dating.

“Ariana and Dalton separated in January. She and Ethan recently began dating, and he is separated from his wife,” a source told People. It was heavily mentioned that Ethan has been married to Lilly Jay since 2018 and they have a song together, however it was ensured that he had separated from his wife prior to dating Ariana.

“Ariana and Ethan recently started dating. They have a lot in common and have a lot of fun. They didn’t start dating until both were broken up with their significant others. Ariana and Dalton remain friends,” a source told Entertainment Tonight.

A source says Ethan Slater’s wife was ‘blindsided’ by the news

The same day their relationship was announced, a source told Page Six Lilly Jay is “completely blindsided” by the dating rumours.

“It’s horrible. They were high school sweethearts. They have a baby! She’s a wreck,” the source said. The following day, a source tells Entertainment Tonight that Lilly is “devastated” and “this is not the future she had in mind”.

Fans find out Ethan shared a tribute to Jay on Instagram

Fans begin to stalk Ethan’s social media and notice he had posted a tribute to his wife on Mother’s Day just two months prior.

“Happy first Mother’s Day, to the most loving caring and wonderful mom/person in the world, from me and this little guy,” he captioned the post.

In a more recent turn of events, Ethan Slater filed for divorce from Lilly Jay. A US Weekly insider then reported Ethan and Ariana are “very much in love” but his friends are “worried she’ll break his heart”.

TMZ’s sources say that Lilly and Ethan “aren’t” on good terms, and that Lilly feels shocked and “betrayed” since Ariana used to spend time with Ethan and Lilly as a couple.
