Britani Bateman’s kids ‘ghosted her’ for months after RHOSLC, so where do they stand now?
She hopes her journey will help other people
Britani Bateman may be new-ish to the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City universe. But, her messiest storyline isn’t about glam squads or Greek vacations, it’s more about motherhood and miscommunication.
Britani has gotten candid about the backlash she’s received for dating while parenting, and why people’s hot take of “she chose a man over her kids” doesn’t match her reality.
Add in some off-camera rumours, a whole lot of hurt feelings, and a months-long silence… and suddenly, “friend of” energy feels very main-character…
Britani’s daughters ‘ghosted’ her
First things first, RHOSLC’s Britani wanted to clear something up.
In a Us Weekly sit-down, Britani said people assumed she was “choosing a man over her daughters,” but she insisted it wasn’t an “either/or” situation, especially because her daughters were already grown and out of the house at the time.
She said one of her girls was juggling school and work, and the other was living overseas.
Where things got really painful is when she described how her daughters “wanted nothing to do” with filming at first and how that distance grew into full-on ghosting once rumours started circulating that Britani was “cr*p talking them on the show.”
Britani claimed she didn’t even understand why they’d pulled away until months later, when she learned what her daughters had heard and why they were so upset.
According to her, the silence lasted from about February to June, and it took her sister stepping in, basically sitting one daughter down and asking, “What is going on?”, for the truth to finally come out.
The Salt Lake star also hinted at lingering tension with castmate Bronwyn Newport, suggesting she never fully cleared up where the rumour started and teasing that it’s the kind of thing that could resurface in classic Housewives fashion.
All of that said, there’s also Olivia’s side of the story to consider.
Hers adds crucial details to the picture. Olivia shared that the roots of their estrangement went back years, long before the rumours took hold.
She explained that after her parents’ divorce and Britani’s remarriage, she felt overlooked, especially during her tween and teen years, per Bravo.
Olivia candidly recalled that her mom became more involved with her stepchildren and less present with her own daughters. She ended up moving in with her dad and the whole thing caused lingering resentment that predated any filming drama.
So while the ghosting did happen in connection with RHOSLC rumours, it was layered atop years of emotional distance.

The most important update? Britani says things are moving “in a positive way.” She teased that the relationship with her daughters has “changed for the better,” though she played coy on specifics.
And honestly, that tracks with what we’ve seen from Bravo’s own coverage of Britani’s family life.
Bravo notes that Britani has been open about being estranged from her two daughters, and in season six, we finally meet her younger daughter, Olivia, as they begin rebuilding their relationship on-camera.
The network also points to hopeful signs off-camera. Olivia appears supportive on IG, including a birthday tribute Britani shared and public, affectionate interactions that suggest they’re finding their way back to each other.
It’s no secret that Britani’s on-and-off relationship with Jared Osmond has been a pressure point, too.
Even that storyline reportedly shifted with “kids’ approval” in mind. Britani explained on the show that their engagement ended (quickly) because their children weren’t on board with the instability, per People.
All in all, Britani has recently said that “surface-level” things are “so much better” between her and her daughters.
Speaking on Nick Viall’s Going Deeper podcast, she said: “I just hope that everybody gets to see the arc, you know?”
