Here’s why the Survivor 49 finale will be interrupted halfway through the programme
There's a major scheduling change
There’s a huge scheduling change to the Survivor 49 finale as it will be interrupted halfway through due to an announcement by President Donald Trump.
The three hour finale is set to air on December 17th, however one hour into the episode it will be paused.
This is as a result of an “address to the nation” happening on December 17th by President Donald Trump from The White House, which will take place at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
A statement from CBS stated: “CBS News will air a Special Report for President Donald J Trump’s live primetime address to the nation from the White House, Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 9 p.m., ET. CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell will anchor and be joined by chief White House correspondent Nancy Cordes, reporting from the White House.”
It continued: “The Survivor finale (starting at 8 p.m., ET/PT) will resume where it left off immediately following the president’s address for Eastern and Central Time Zone viewers on the CBS Television Network and air in its entirety. Check your local listings for more details.”
As a result, the first hour of the Survivor 49 finale will be uninterrupted, but it will then be stopped for the presidential address and possible pre- and post-segments.
Once the address has finished the episode will continue from where it stopped, however it’s currently unknown how long the presential address will go on for, so you could be waiting a while to find out the winner.
The statement from President Donald Trump only impacts Eastern and Central time zones, meaning those in the Pacific time will be able to watch the Survivor 49 finale without getting an interruption, as the address is happening at 6:00 p.m. PT.
