Jessi has a really wholesome update on Layla’s talented hairstylist on Mormon Wives
She revealed they sadly don't have many Black stylists in Utah
Layla decided to go elsewhere for a hairstylist on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, which left Jessi really confused. She later discovered that Layla felt as though she needed someone with expertise on black women’s hair, and it turns out Jessi has worked with her since.
When Layla opened up to Jessi to say she “noticed her hair wasn’t doing well,” the owner of JZ Styles Co said: “Unfortunately we don’t have many Black stylists in Utah. It’s a big problem. I just didn’t get the education at school, your hair needs to be treated differently.”
Since, Layla’s hairstylist, Lacorey Robin, has visited JZ Hairstyles to teach the stylists about Black hair. She wrote: “Filming with you guys was an incredible journey, I’m so grateful for every one of you. Your hard work, passion, and support made this experience unforgettable.”
@_justjessiiii Thank you for the support & love with the hair story Layla shared ❤️ I’m always committed to growing and learning and being the most inclusive I can be. What you didn’t see was Layla’s stylist, Lacory, came to @jzstyles.co and taught me some of her ways and it was so great to have an open and honest discussion about how ethnic hair is done. I’m committed to making sure @JZ Academy is implementing more education with these practices as well. Thank you to @Layla Taylor for being brave in sharing your story ❤️

Lacorey is situated in Salt Lake City but works as a travel stylist. She specialises in braids, locs, sew-ins and custom looks and calls herself a “braids and weave queen.” And Layla told her: “Thanks for introducing me to a sew in and having such a great conversation!”
She added that she “will forever be grateful for that appointment” as she “didn’t realise ethnic hair needs to be treated differently,” adding that her co-star Layla is “changing the hair game in Utah one day at a time” after their honest conversation.
